A masjid for Hickory Hills and the southwest suburbs

For years, families in our surrounding communities have experienced a growing need for accessible places of worship, Islamic education, youth engagement, and meaningful community connection.

With the acceptance of our purchase contract for a property at 8747 S. Roberts Road, we have taken an important step toward realizing our collective dream: establishing a masjid and Islamic community center that will serve our children, families, elders, and future generations, insha'Allah.

We envision more than a building. We envision a spiritual home where hearts connect with Allah, children develop a love for the Qur'an, young people discover their purpose, families strengthen their relationships, and neighbors come together in service and harmony.

Help us open the doors of Masjid al-Ummah

Dr. Imam Musa Azam invites our community to take part in establishing Masjid al-Ummah at 8747 S. Roberts Road, Hickory Hills — a house of Allah where prayer, learning, and service can flourish for generations.

Our mission

Five commitments, rooted in the Qur'an and Sunnah

Our mission rests upon five essential commitments rooted in the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah — and on bringing Muslims of every background together upon the shared foundations of Islam.

  • إيمان

    Faith

Strengthening our relationship with Allah through worship, remembrance, and spiritual development.

  • علم

    Knowledge

Making Qur'anic and Islamic education accessible to children, youth, and adults alike.

  • أسرة

    Family

Supporting healthy families, strong marriages, and intergenerational connections.

  • قيادة

    Leadership

Preparing young Muslims to become confident, ethical, and responsible contributors to society.

  • خدمة

    Service

Demonstrating Islamic values through compassion, community engagement, and service to humanity.

Planned programs

What we hope to offer

The following are planned services, to be introduced progressively as facilities, resources, staffing, and approvals permit, insha'Allah.

  • Daily prayers

The five daily congregational prayers in a welcoming, spiritually uplifting environment.

  • Jumu'ah & Ramadan

Jumu'ah khutbahs, Taraweeh, Qur'anic programs, and community iftars during Ramadan.

  • Qur'an & Islamic classes

After-school and weekend Qur'an reading, Tajweed, memorization, and Islamic studies.

  • Youth development

Mentorship, leadership, identity workshops, and a place where young Muslims truly belong.

  • Family & women's programs

Marriage education, parenting workshops, and sisters' worship, education, and engagement.

  • Community service

Charitable outreach, support for families in hardship, and respectful interfaith understanding.

The Qur'anic foundation

The honor of building the houses of Allah

"Indeed, the mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish prayer, give zakah, and fear none except Allah."

Surah At-Tawbah 9:18

A masjid is not simply a place of bricks and concrete. It is a sacred institution sustained by faith, sincerity, worship, generosity, and service.

Build a masjid, leave a legacy

Your sadaqah jariyah can benefit generations

مَنْ بَنَى مَسْجِدًا لِلَّهِ بَنَى اللَّهُ لَهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ مِثْلَهُ

"Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him something like it in Paradise."

Sahih al-Bukhari 450; Sahih Muslim 533

Every prayer offered, every Qur'anic lesson taught, every child inspired, and every family supported represents the potential for continuing reward — an ongoing charity whose benefit may continue long after our lives have ended.
